PMDD & Irregular Periods

I started the Bean Protocol with a TON of apprehension, but also desperation. My periods were incredibly irregular - anywhere from 28 - 39 days - to the point that my period tracker app would alert "your period will start sometime in the next 14 days" that isn't a joke!

I had tried using thousands of dollars of supplements and hormone panels (which confirmed that I had insanely high estrogen because of an estrogen-producing adrenal pathway which was created from a bad eating disorder I had) from my naturopath, fasting, flax oil, soy, no soy. Nothing was working. My PMS symptoms were on the PMDD spectrum and lasted for 2 entire weeks before the start of my period. For three weeks a month, I was either on my period or suffering from PMDD.

Now for the apprehension: I had always been "keto" and "paleo" and these flash in the pan diets had made me deathly afraid of any legume or bean! I knew that I couldn't go at it alone, and the logic behind the protocol made too much sense for me to ignore it. I started working with Unique right away. She is so kind, knowledgeable, funny, supportive and so chill and lovely to speak with. She felt like a big sister. I told her about my fear of carbs and weight gain and we put a plan together. Within ONE MONTH my period was back to it's 28-day cycle - something I hadn't experienced since high school!! And, shocker, I didn't gain a pound. In fact, the months I beaned up the most, I looked my BEST! I'm not afraid of carbs or beans anymore. Chickpeas & husk were what worked best for me, so I load up on both of them. I have had a 28-day cycle for 9 consistent cycles in a row. The PMDD is GONE. I no longer know my period is coming because of two weeks of hell, I know because it's day 28. I could build a calendar off of my cycle it is so perfectly regular.

I cannot recommend Unique enough. If you are even 1% on the fence I would tell you that this could be the most life-changing decision you make! She's not selling supplements and throwing things at the wall to see what sticks (my experience with 4+ naturopaths, acupuncturists, and doctors) don't get me wrong, these practitioners are so helpful but the simplicity of the bean protocol is so refreshing. When you think about it, the average woman shouldn't need 10 supplements a day and needles all over your body to regulate your hormones. The BP is the answer. It's the 10000 year old method that we've lost our way from. Work with Unique! It will be the best decision you make. Your body will thank you. And I promise you won't gain weight if you've been paleo-shamed into fearing a chickpea :)
